The Embassy of Canada is proudly co-sponsoring the fifth annual Cancer Care Run, the successor to the Terry Fox Run, in Lumpini Park on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

Everyone is invited to participate in the run/walk. Runners must obtain a minimum donation of Baht 350 to offset the cost of an official Cancer Care t-shirt, or Baht 500 for the cost of an official Cancer Care polo shirt. Participation also includes a breakfast box and the chance to win exciting prizes such as accommodation vouchers at various Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and much more.

Continuing the legacy of Canadian cancer research activist Terry Fox (1958-1981), last year’s Run attracted approximately 3,000 runners, successfully raising 3.9M Baht for the Genetic Cancer Research Centre at Chulalongkorn Hospital, under the auspices of The Thai Red Cross Society. Proceeds from this year’s Run will go towards research projects currently conducted by the Hematological Cancer Research Centre at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Beginning and ending inside the Lumpini Park, the Run is a fun and enjoyable Saturday outing for families, joggers and health enthusiasts of all ages.  Both the 5 km and 10 km routes are perfect for running and walking.  Families with young children as well as the elderly are welcome to participate.  Various activities with prizes offered are lined up for kids, and a Queen’s trophy will be awarded to the largest group of runners.  Prizes also await participants who reach the finish line for the 5 km and 10 km runners.

Registration is from 7:00 am to 7:45 am and the official starting time is at 8:05 am.

Cancer Care shirts are also available from the Four Seasons Hotel. Contact 02 216 8866 or rbkcancernarecommittee@fourseasons.com for more information.
