We are all accountable for purposefully and intentionally tackling racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools and universities
across our global CIS community.
We can help you do the groundwork via two virtual foundation workshops. They focus on intercultural competencies, and structures and systems in schools and universities. They are each 2.5 hours long and interactive.
‘Story’ plays an integral part in your workshop experience as you learn and share your own experiences and expertise, and hear those from peers, expert practitioners, and guest speakers. You will explore ways to evaluate your practices and take positive action.

Draw on the experience of speakers Dr Nneka Johnson, Conrad Hughes and Eowyn Crisfield in this new webinar. They’ll share how they embedded initiatives and values for inclusivity through diversity, equity, and antiracism (I-DEA) and demonstrated culturally responsive strategies in their institutions. As schools undergo a transformation process, understanding polarity thinking and navigating responses to difference can support growth. Join this webinar to learn about polarity thinking and navigating responses to differences that can support growth.

Keeping connected and prepared for profound changes in international education at the CIS Global Forum
We invite all university guidance counsellors to join us on 16–18 November for another energising exchange of perspectives that strengthen relationships and support student transitions from school to higher education at the virtual CIS Global Forum on International Higher Education Admission & Guidance 2021.
Our Forum went virtual with great success in 2020, bringing together more than 1,000 university admissions professionals and university guidance counsellors from 80 countries. Introducing group registration last year was a popular option that enabled far more of our community to join us in the virtual medium, so we are making it available again in 2021. We hope you’ll join us to learn and share!
Advice for international schools and universities
21 October | 12:00–13:00 CEST
We know that LGBTQ+ students are at higher risk of harm and abuse and are more likely to experience mental health conditions than many peers. We also know that it can be particularly challenging for schools and universities to safeguard these students in some countries and cultural contexts.Less is known about the experiences of LGBTQ+ faculty in our school and university communities, but we are increasingly asked for help and support from our members in this area too.
This webinar will look at emerging research and leading practice and will consider how both school and university communities can address some of the legal and cultural barriers they face to providing safe and inclusive spaces for their LGBTQ+ students and faculty.
in international schools
In this webinar, we explore why it is important to support our students’ social-emotional well-being. International school students have unique social-emotional needs. For example, they may have a history of frequent moves, identify as third culture kids, learn in a language other than their home language, experience school and family disruption due to COVID-19, and have high academic performance expectations of themselves. We share how these factors can contribute to social-emotional needs in our schools and how we can respond.
