Your First Project: Insights from Teachers new to PBL (Podcast)
Are you planning to launch your very first project-based experience in the 2022-2023 school year?
I imagine you must be both incredibly excited and incredibly nervous at the same time.
That’s exactly how Michelle Willis, Dave Sheehan and Mike Wnek (pictured above) felt when launching their first project, ‘Suenos Unidos’ with learners in the 2021-2022 school year.
Yet after PBLifying their Great Gatsby novel study to be more student-centered and project focused, they witnessed something magical happen. Their learners:
- Surfaced strengths, talents and interests Michelle and Dave never knew they had
- Came in to finish project work before and after school and during lunch hours
- Took ownership of project tasks and set their own deadlines
- Developed authentic products entirely on their own- including a podcast, blog, website, and intro video to their work
- Worked harder and more thoroughly for their classmates than they ever worked for their teachers
Learn more about the project’s successes and challenges, and insights for how you can transform students into self-directed learners in your first project this year.
