10 highlights to talk about during Songkran


Students: Are your parents asking what happened in school today? This week? Parents: Not getting much of a response when you ask your child what is happening at school? Well, here is a list of 10 events that have happened or will happen soon at school. Hopefully, there is at least one item on the list that you can talk about this weekend.

1. Habitat for Humanity students helped last Saturday, April 7 to Rebuild Thailand after the floods. Check out some photos from their last build.

2. Earth Week Updates. Click HERE for the latest on Earth Week Events, which starts the week we get back from Songkran Break.

3. BISAC Track & Field begins after Songkran Break. Meet by the track after school on Monday, April 23rd.

4. Toy Library. A big thanks to everyone who donated toys! We will start collecting them again after the Songkran Break. Check out a VIDEO that explains this event and go to the WEBSITE for more information. Plus, check out these photos of middle school students sorting toys.

5. Amy Krouse Rosenthal is visiting ISB the week after Songkran. She will be talking to the whole middle school on Friday, April 27, from 1:20-2:05pm and to Grade 7 in separate presentations.   Check out her website, https://www.whoisamy.com/ and take a look at the PoeTree in the Main Library filled with favorite poems of MS and HS students and teachers.   Also view Amy’s short videos as several of them talk about Synergy topics.  “Kindness Thought Bubble” and “Positive Pranking” are two middle schoolers might enjoy.

6. BISAC Volleyball, Tennis, and Softball have a busy week after Songkran. They will finish their seasons on Saturday, April 28. Check out the MS Student Calendar for more details.

7. MS Art Show is starting Wednesday, April 25 in the Chevron Theatre . Come check out some fabulous art work by middle school students.

8. Is your life to plastic? Come to the movie screening of Bag It on Wednesday, April 25 in the MPB 1 from 2:15-3:30pm. 5 Earth Week points for any ISB student/parent attending. View the official trailer and if you have facebook, you can sign up HERE.

9. Carrot Mob is coming! Have you noticed all the carrots around school? Check out the Carrot Mob is coming post inthemix, and head to https://www.facebook.com/events/317717674943017/ for the very latest on this event.

10. Less than 2000 water bottles left to sell in the cafeteria. Middle school students overwhelmingly voted to stop selling bottled water in the cafeteria.  So, don’t forget to bring your own reusable bottle. You can buy them in the bookstore now.
