10 highlights to talk about this weekend


Students: Are your parents asking what happened in school today? This week? Parents: Not getting much of a response when you ask your child what is happening at school? Well, here is a list of 10 events that have happened or will happen soon at school. Hopefully, there is at least one item on the list that you can talk about this weekend.

1. Come Sailing Saturday, March 10! Find out how easily you can move about on the water with only the eco-power of the wind. Join Dr. & Dr. Everett, Ms. Chandler, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnson as they travel to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya next Saturday. These sailing experts want to share the joys of sailing with you. For more information, including a permission form, CLICK HERE

2. Young Writers Award. The deadline for the young writers awards is approaching. The last date for submitting a piece of writing is April 1, 2012. Go to https://inside.isb.ac.th/youngwriters/submit-your-writing/ to submit your writing piece. Questions? See Mr. Romary or your Humanities teacher.

3. Habitat for Humanity School Recovery Project. We need your help to rebuild three school right here in Nonthaburi. Our first build date is March 24. For more information, check out the School Recovery Project blog post inthemix. Registration forms are available for download HERE, on Ms. Jones’s door, or online.

4. Good Luck to all the middle school students participating and presenting in the Bangkok ServICE Conference. Go Inspire, Connect, & Empower.

5. BrownBags & Books Club is happy to announce the premier showing of the Hunger Games movie on March 22 for middle school students. Pick up a permission form outside the Soar Center, or download the Hunger Games Permission Form HERE. Please return forms by March 9. 6. Rainbow House Soak the Teacher Part 2 is happening next week during lunch on Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9. 50 baht will get students 4 sponges and an opportunity to soak a teacher. Soaking times will be posted next week. And if you have not checked yet, photos of the event are online. Check them out.

7. Latin dancing is coming to the middle school on Thursday afternoons. Sign up for this 10 week course outside room 218, or contact Khun Janejira. The first lesson starts next Thursday, March 8. There is a 500 baht fee for this activity.

8. T-Shirts for Breaking Boundaries will be on sale all next week during lunch. Breaking Boundaries supports children whose parent are in prison.

9. Science Expo is coming! March 14 & 15 in the Middle School Quad. Check out the advertisement HERE.

10. Award-winning author Holly Thompson will visit ISB March 12th- 16th. Ms. Thompson’s most recent book, Orchards, has won several notable awards, including the Asian/Pacific American Award for Young Adult Literature in 2012.
