The IB program in brief 2011

ISB was authorized for the Diploma Programme by the International Baccalaureate Organization in 1984. Since that time an increasing number of students have taken IB examinations and received IB Diplomas and Certificates from IBO in addition to earning their ISB high school diploma.

The programme is a  two year pre-university course of studies with culminating examinations for Juniors and Seniors.

Most IB subjects at ISB can be studied at Higher Level or Standard Level which are differentiated by depth and breadth of study and assessment.

Diploma students select one subject from each of the six subject groups with three subjects studied at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard level (SL). Students may elect to substitute the sixth choice from Groups 1,2,3, 4, or 5 in place of a Group 6 subject. All Diploma students must study a second language.
