Justin Wisness is in his 16th year of teaching and 11th year at Governor John R. Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington. Mr. Wisness is the third choir director at Rogers High School in its 51-year history. A graduate of Western Washington University, Mr. Wisness is currently finishing his Masters in Music Education Degree at Central Washington University. Choirs under Mr. Wisness’ direction have toured to New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC, Vancouver Canada, and around the Northwest Region of the United States.

Choirs under Mr. Wisness’ direction are known for their expressive and connected performances. They have been featured at the 2018 Northwest American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) Convention, the 2016 Washington Music Educator’s Association (WMEA) State Convention, and the MENC Northwest Convention in 2006. Groups and soloists at Rogers consistently qualify each year for the WMEA State Solo and Ensemble Contest and have enjoyed many placements in the top 3 in a variety of categories in recent years.

Mr. Wisness served as a co-conductor with Patrick Michel of the Washington Ambassadors of Music Choir in 2008, 2010, and 2012 on their 16-day tour through Europe. In 2011, he received the Washington ACDA Young Choir Director Award and was selected as the Daffodil Educator of the Year for Rogers High School in 2011 and 2014. Mr. Wisness is sought after as a guest clinician and conductor, frequently adjudicating regional contests, guest conducting for honor choirs, and leading retreats in Washington and Oregon.

Justin resides in Puyallup, Washington with his wife Sarah and their son, Henry. They enjoy playing music, enjoying the outdoors, playing sports, drawing, and watching movies together.
