Panther Tennis News/Results

Despite the sweltering heat in the middle of Bangkok’s hottest season, around
40 ISB students from the Elementary, Middle & High Schools – including one
Varsity player — participated in the end-of-year Panther Tennis Tournament
held at the ISB courts on Sunday, May 26th.
On hand to ensure the smooth running of the tournament were coaches from
Advantage Tennis, assisted by members of the Parent Tennis Committee
First up were the 10-and-Under category, where the youngest of the players
put into good use the skills they honed over the school year and battled on the
courts to get into the finals.  Although young in age, they managed to
demonstrate not just their talent and skills on the courts, but a high level of
sportsmanship that made parents beam with pride.
Next were the 13-and-Under category, which saw the largest turnout for the
day.  The first game started at around 11 am, and despite soaring
temperatures, parents who turned up to lend their support witnessed many
challenging matches, with impressive top spins, volleys and serves.
Last, but not least, were players in the 14-and-over category, who gave an
incredible display of skill and endurance on the courts, accompanied by the
highest levels of sportsmanship.
Meanwhile, young players at the beginner level (Cubs & Mini-Cubs) were also
given the opportunity to participate in a friendly tournament of their own on
Monday (May 27) & Tuesday (May 28).  It was a fun-filled afternoon, and like
their older counterparts in the competitive category, they were also recognized
for their ability, enthusiasm and sportsmanship on the court.
Apart from the customary trophies for the Top 4 winners, prizes, courtesy of
DTAC, were also given for fun categories such as the best footwork, the most
hardworking, the best display of sportsmanship, best dressed, and many
All participants also received a water bottle, courtesy of Booster Hut, as well
as Gatorade and Twist Fruit Freezes from the PTC.  Bottled water and juices
were also available throughout the tournament, thanks to Coca-Cola.
The PTC would like to extend its deepest appreciation to DTAC and Coca-Cola
for their support in making the tournament a successful one.
