BBSA supports and sends “All-Star” teams each year to participate in the Southeast Asia Youth Baseball and Softball Tournament (SEAYBST), a week of international tournament games. SEAYBST is hosted annually on a rotating basis by one of five participating members: Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta and Perth. This year’s tournament will be held in Singapore at the Singapore American School and will begin Wednesday, March 27th and end Saturday, March 30th, 2013.
Teams play round-robin and playoff games, capped off by an awards ceremony on the final night. This is a competitive league and players must try out and be selected to make the teams. Teams generally consist of up to 13 players, including alternates. This year, BBSA hopes to send one team in each of the following divisions to compete in the 2013 SEAYBST Tournament:Division Age Restrictions Rule BookBaseballMinors cannot be 13 before April 1 2013 Little LeagueMajors cannot be 15 before April 1 2013 Jr./Sr./Big LeagueSenior cannot be 19 before April 1 2013 Jr./Sr./Big LeagueIf you have any questions about the SEAYBST process, the tournament or anything else related to SEAYBST, please contact Kristen Keating, Director – SEAYBST 2013 at email@example.com.
Please read the following message if you think you may be interested in trying out for an SEA team.
Parents: Participation is a significant commitment. Players will practice twice a week, and must commit to playing in an overseas tournament.
School absences: historically ISB has granted excused absences to student athletes participating in the SEAYBST, with students making up work upon return (however this is not guaranteed). The tournament committee expects the same this year and is working with ISB to ensure its support.
