Bangkok is hosting SEAYBST 2011 tournament this year!! The tournament will take place at ISB from Sunday, 20 March – Saturday, 26 March.

Our SEAYBST baseball and softball teams are hard at work preparing for the exciting competition against Singapore, Jakarta, Manila and Perth which starts in 2 weeks on March 20th! Our SEAYBST Tournament Committee, along with ISB staff, have been hard at work organizing the games and activities that will make up the tournament. Below is an overview of what to expect…

Games and Services:

The following Opening Ceremony and games will kick off the tournament on Sunday morning, March 20th:

8:30am – Opening Ceremony – Reinsch Field

9:00am – Reinsch Field – Majors Division Baseball – Singapore vs. Bangkok

9:00am – Field “A” – Seniors Division Softball – Singapore Majors vs. Bangkok Seniors

9:30am – Field “B” – Minors Division Baseball – Manila vs. Singapore

Round Robin games will be played Sunday–Thursday on all 3 fields with division Playoffs on Friday the 25th, and the Championship games on Saturday, Mar. 26th.

Daily game results will be posted at The Slider Shack, at Field “B”, and at the SEAYBST Information Tent, as well as being emailed out to coaches or team managers.

Home Run Derbys and Base Running Competitions (Just for Fun!) will be held at the end of the week for each division, with the winners receiving award medals for their skills!

Awards medals will also be given out to one player in each division for Silver Slugger (best Batter), Golden Glove (best Fielder), The Heat (best Pitcher) and overall MVP. Players… get your bats, gloves and pitching arms ready!!!

KidsFoto will be on hand to take all Team photos and will have photographers covering every game trying to get some great shots of all the action during the week. Game CDs will be available for order at the SEAYBST Information Tent during the tournament, and available for pick-up in the Activities Office after the tournament.

Emergency Medical services will be available all week courtesy of Bumrungrad Hospital and Samitivej Sukhumvit and Srinakarin Hospitals. A First Aid Tent will be set up at the B&G Bldg. staffed by nurses from these hospitals, and available for use by all tournament participants.

Vendors and Concessions:

The Slider Shack will be open all week, and Concession Tents will be set up on the grounds between Reinsch Field and “B” Field. Participating vendors will include Subway, Twist, Shoshona, a local fruit cart, and maybe even a few last minute “surprises” thrown into the mix!

SEAYBST Merchandise Tent will be open all week selling tournament merchandise such as t-shirts, backpacks, hats, fans, seat cushions, wristbands, pins, etc. Stop by for a look and show your support by purchasing a few souvenirs!

SEAYBST Cleat Sales Tent will be open during the tournament selling Nike baseball cleats for 300Baht per pair. Only small and large sizes available.

SEAYBST Information Tent will be located near the concession stands and will be staffed with volunteers to answer questions, to offer additional tournament materials upon request, to take orders for photo CDs, and to sell tickets for the Icebreaker Happy Hour, the Players’ Social, and the Awards Banquet. Daily game results will be posted at the Tent as well.

SEAYBST Committee Staff Members will be available all week and easily identifiable by the trendy blue STAFF t-shirts they’ll be sporting!

NOTE** High school students can earn Community Service Hours for volunteering to work at the tournament after school or on weekends. See Khun Fon in the ISB Activities Office to sign up!

Tournament Activities:

The following activities have been arranged to keep everyone entertained during the weeklong tournament:

Opening Ceremony, Sunday, March 20th, 8:30-9am – Reinsch Field; the HS VOX Choir will sing the King’s Anthem and “Take Me Out to The Ball Game” to help us get the tournament started!

Icebreaker Happy Hour, Sunday, March 20th, 6-7:30pm –at the new Blue Sky Bar on the rooftop of the Sofitel Centara Grand Hotel. All coaches, parents, umpires, visitors and community members are invited to attend. Tickets at 400Baht per person include 2 drink coupons for beer or wine, and light snacks, and will be on sale at the SEAYBST Information Tent on the ISB fields all week. Adults only.

Players’ Social, Friday, March 25th,between 1-5pm –at the Nichada Club pool; Tickets at 350Baht include lunch/snack buffet and 2 drinks, and will be on sale at the SEAYBST Information Tent on the ISB fields all week and poolside on Friday. Lifeguards may be on duty, however swimming will be at your own risk. Players only!!

Thai Craft Fair, Friday, March 25th , 3:30-8:30pm –to be held at the ISB Auxilliary Gym beside the tennis courts and across from the pool. Over 30 vendors will be on hand selling their local Thai crafts at reasonable prices. All visitors and community members are encouraged to attend!

Awards Banquet, Saturday, March 26th , 7:30-10:30pm – at the Sofitel Centara Grand Hotel. This promises to be a fun evening filled with good food, numerous awards, music, and a slide show highlighting the best of what will hopefully be an exciting tournament! All players and their families, coaches, umpires, tournament organizers and community members are encouraged to attend. Players, coaches and umpires will receive complimentary tickets courtesy of SEAYBST and BBSA. Tickets at 600B per person (500B for 12 and under) will include a full Thai/Western buffet, non-alcoholic drinks and dessert bar, and will be on sale at the SEAYBST Information Tent on the ISB fields all week. Cash bar for beer and wine available at the event.
