Home Learning - Thursday, May 20th
Dear Parents and Students,
I am so glad that everyone is home safe and sound with their families. In this e-mail, I’ve outlined some learning that you can do from home on Thursday.
Our typical daily schedule is listed on the grade two blog with some learning activities.

I’m going to add a few details in this e-mail that are more specifics for our class.
Reading – If you have some post-its at home, grab two or three to have with you while you read. Stop when you want to track your thinking about:
1. a strong feeling that you had
2. a connection you can make to another book or your own life
3. a prediction that you want to remember
Talk about your reading with your mom, dad, or an older brother or sister?
Writing – We’ve been working really hard writing poems and publishing them in “My Little Book of Poems”. Many of you have been wanting to write more poems about anything you want to. You can do that today! As you write, remember what good poets do and try to use the same techniques in your own poems.
Good poets:
write about things that are important to them and zoom in
describe things using all of their senses
use comparisons
add descriptive vocabulary and details
use personification (make things that aren’t humans do things that we do)
use repetition
Write several drafts of different poems. Read them to someone in your family and get some suggestions of how you could make them even better.
Math – Go to Smarttwo
http://inside.isb.ac.th/smarttwo/category/general-grade-2/
Go to the PortaPortal under links.
Then go to the Math section.
Finally, go to the TIME section and pick different websites that help you practice telling time.
On Wednesday, you took home 3 pages of math addition facts to practice. Which ones were tricky for you? If some were hard make a set of flash cards specific to the facts that you need to practice. You could write the answers on the back so you can quiz yourself and check if you are right. Or you can have someone at home ask you each question. Try not to use your fingers!
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Hopefully things in Bangkok will be safe for us to return to school soon.
Sincerely,
Ms. Garner
