Have you ever thought about designing a trip around the world? Well, to finish off our Social Studies unit on mapping & landforms, students are working in small teams to design a trip, using Google Earth, which will visit a site on each of the major continents (we left off Antarctica). Initial stages of research had us investigating landforms and bodies of water, and trying to narrow down our individual interests. Next, students were asked to chose 1 interesting site to visit from each continent. This was a bit tricky at times as our interests were a little different. Also,
some continents appeared to be more interesting than others. It was like a puzzle in the end, as we narrowed it down and matched everything up. For Monday, we will go into more depth researching our 6 sites, and putting place markers into Google Earth as we design our “Trip Round The World”. More to come next week. If you have any questions, ask the kids!
