U13/15 and MS Athletics is made up of 3 parts:  1) BISAC, 2) Intramural Sports (Open Gym), 3) MS Sports League.

Bangkok International School Athletic Conference (BISAC)

  • BISAC is an athletic conference made up of international schools in and around the greater Bangkok area. Our MS students compete with other BISAC schools mainly in the Under-15 and Under-13 age groups.  Please note that some 6th graders are still young enough to play in U11 sports as well and 8th graders can try out for for U17 sports if they excel in that sport.  There are some limitations, these being described in our policy… https://inside.isb.ac.th/athletics/isb-bisac-age-policy/ (please read this).

  • BISAC is more competitive than Intramural Sports and League and tryouts are required for all sports except Cross Country.  Nevertheless, the emphasis of ISB’s MS participation in BISAC is for the development our athletes as they improve and learn skills, sportsmanship, and team commitment to prepare for a more intense competition at the HS level.  During the regular season, each team normally has one “friendly” each week. Each season is ended with a BISAC-wide tournament hosted by one of the BISAC-member schools.  Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 2:10 – 3:40.  Games typically start around 3:30 if teams show up on time.
  • What age group are you in?  By BISAC rules, the age of the student is defined by their age as of 01 August of the current school year.  This means it is also possible for some 6th graders to participate in U11 and some 9th graders to participate in U15 if they meet the age requirements.

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • All student athletes (U13 & U15) and parents need to visit the ‘MUST DO‘ page as it has important information that needs to be completed ASAP.
    1. ISB Athletic Responsibilities Acknowledgment (all athletes & parents)
    2. Pre-Participation Exam (PPE)
    3. MS Athletic Registration Form  (all athletes & parents)

2.  Intramural Sports/Open Gym:

  • Intramurals take place officially on Monday and Wednesday from 2:10 – 3:10 with Mr. Johnson and Mr. Ducharme offering a a different activity each session.
  • The venue might change due to availability of spaces so it is best to just meet in front of the PE offices to see what is on.
  • The activities are also announced in the student bulletin each day.
  • Intramurals are informal and any student can participate.  There are no try outs and the focus is on fun and participation.

3.  (NEW!!)  MS Sports League

  •  This is something we just created out of a desire to keep students active and healthy.  We get many students trying out for basketball, soccer, and volleyball every year and the team only takes approximately 12 players.  Thus, a lot of hard working athletes were being cut and had no place to go.  Now all these athletes can join the MS Sports League.  In general the league will follow the BISAC season and be about 8 weeks long.  Season 1 is basketball, season 2 is soccer, and season 3 is volleyball.
  • League will take place on Thursday’s from 2:10 to 3:10.  Students will be given a team, color, and schedule and are expected to fully participate.  Notice this is not the same as intramurals where you can drop in if you feel like it.  League expects a full commitment from it’s players.
